OTTAWA, IL – In a show of ultimate compassion and selflessness an Ottawa man gave a 5 year old can of beans which was set to expire Monday, to the local homeless shelter.

The Ottawa native, Brian Gosner, said Friday that he was doing his part to help out the community.

“There are people in need this time of year and this was just something I felt I should do.” Brian told The Cob early Friday morning.

“Our shelter is a non-profit, thus donations are tax deductible. This was something Mr. Gosner was extremely happy about.” Stated shelter head Lisa Farza.

“All I know is that I’m deducting this 49 cents from my taxes this year.” Concluded Mr. Gosner, upon leaving the shelter.

“I guess we better eat this quick. They expire in two days.” Mrs. Farza told The Cob.
